Maldives Marks 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations with Indonesia

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended greetings to Indonesian President Joko Widodo as the Maldives and Indonesia mark the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.

In a letter addressed to President Widodo, President Muizzu expressed his warm wishes to the President, the Indonesian government, and its people. He commended the enduring and historic ties between the Maldives and Indonesia, emphasizing the strong cooperation and friendship that has flourished over the past five decades.

President Muizzu highlighted his commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two nations. He conveyed his hopes for continued collaboration with President Widodo and the Indonesian government, aimed at enhancing the mutual benefits for the people of both countries.

In his message, President Muizzu also wished President Widodo good health and well-being, alongside his hopes for the continued progress and prosperity of Indonesia.

The diplomatic relationship between the Maldives and Indonesia was officially established on September 2, 1974, and has since developed into a robust partnership characterized by mutual respect and shared interests.
