The Maldives has seen a significant rise in tourist arrivals this year, with 1,367,825 visitors recorded so far, according to the Ministry of Tourism. This marks a 10.5% increase compared to the same period last year, when 1,238,275 tourists had visited the island nation.
The daily influx of tourists continues to grow, with an average of 5,560 arrivals each day since the beginning of the month. China leads the list of top tourist sources, contributing 199,316 visitors, followed by Russia with 147,755 tourists. The United Kingdom ranks third with 117,855 arrivals, and Italy comes in fourth with 101,748 tourists.
Currently, the Maldives offers a wide range of accommodation options to cater to this growing number of visitors, including 174 resorts, 14 hotels, 881 guesthouses, and 153 safari vessels.
The government has set an ambitious target of attracting two million tourists by the end of the year, and the steady increase in arrivals suggests that this goal may be within reach. The rise in tourism highlights the Maldives’ continued appeal as a top travel destination, offering stunning natural beauty and world-class hospitality.
