Customs Reports MVR 364 Million in Trade Revenue for July

The Maldives earned MVR 364 million in revenue from imports and exports during the month of July, according to data released by Maldives Customs Service. This marks a 0.8% increase compared to the MVR 361 million reported for the same period last year.

Customs reported that the total value of goods imported in July amounted to MVR 4.5 billion, slightly lower than the MVR 4.7 billion recorded in July 2022. The top countries exporting goods to the Maldives during this period were the UAE, India, China, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.

Key import figures for July include:

  • UAE – MVR 991 million
  • India – MVR 766 million
  • China – MVR 681 million
  • Singapore – MVR 356 million
  • Sri Lanka – MVR 254 million

The main categories of imported goods were machinery and electrical equipment, oil products, and food items.

On the export side, the Maldives saw a decline, with MVR 65 million worth of goods shipped out in July. The primary export destinations were the UK, Thailand, UAE, Bangladesh, and France.
