Fenaka Corporation has taken a significant step toward digital transformation by unveiling its new digitalization roadmap. The announcement was made at a ceremony attended by government officials, where Fenaka’s Managing Director, Muaz Mohamed Rasheed, introduced the corporation’s vision for modernizing its utility services across the Maldives.

The highlight of the event was the launch of the Girumbaa Portal, a platform designed to centralize real-time data related to the services provided by Fenaka in various islands. The portal will offer a detailed view of the operational health of powerhouses and energy plants, allowing the corporation to take preventive action before service disruptions occur. This real-time monitoring is expected to improve efficiency, enhance service delivery, and ensure reliable utility services for island communities.

“The Girumbaa Portal will revolutionize how we monitor and maintain our powerhouses and power plants, providing us with the ability to respond quickly to potential issues and ensure continuous service for all residents,” said Muaz.

Fenaka also introduced a new Human Resource (HR) software application aimed at streamlining employee management processes, such as tracking leaves and attendance. The software is expected to improve efficiency in HR operations, providing employees with a smoother experience when applying for annual or sick leaves.

Smart Operation Management System (SOMS)

A key component of Fenaka’s digitalization effort is the introduction of the Smart Operation Management System (SOMS), a sophisticated platform designed to optimize the corporation’s utility services. SOMS, code-named Zosma, will focus on digitalizing critical operations like electricity generation, water supply, and sewerage services. The system is expected to play a pivotal role in improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring real-time visibility into the performance of Fenaka’s extensive network of utility outlets across more than 154 islands.

Currently, Fenaka’s operations rely on manual logging, which includes tracking generator load, fuel consumption, and operating hours. This method has proven time-consuming and prone to errors, with data often delayed in reaching management. SOMS will address these challenges by offering centralized monitoring, allowing management to make data-driven decisions and respond quickly to potential issues.

Phased Implementation of SOMS

According to Fenaka, SOMS is being introduced in phases. In the initial phase, operators at powerhouses will input logs manually into the system. The second phase will see the automation of generator data collection, improving accuracy and reducing human error. This system will also monitor fuel and lubricant consumption, providing detailed insights that will help in inventory management and cost control.

The phased rollout will expand to cover water and sewerage operations as well, allowing for real-time monitoring of Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants and other services. This integration will enhance Fenaka’s ability to deliver clean water services more efficiently to island communities.

Enhancing Service Delivery

Fenaka’s digital transformation is set to benefit both the corporation and the island communities it serves. With real-time data visibility, the company will be better equipped to plan for future capacity needs and address operational inefficiencies. This initiative is expected to lead to cost reductions, improved service delivery, and enhanced decision-making capabilities at the executive level.

“The implementation of SOMS not only enhances operational efficiency but also ensures more reliable service to the island communities. This shift will allow us to streamline operations across our branches and improve overall service quality,” said Muaz.

Fenaka’s commitment to innovation and service excellence positions the corporation to become a more agile utility provider, ensuring the sustainable delivery of essential services to the Maldives’ growing population. The digitalization roadmap, with platforms like the Girumbaa Portal and SOMS, marks a new chapter in Fenaka’s journey toward becoming a leader in utility management.
