Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Lixin, has praised the resilience and potential of the Maldivian people while expressing confidence in the country’s future progress under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
“The Maldives may be small, but its vision is big; the resources may be limited, but its potential is huge.” – Ambassador Wang noted, in a tweet posted today.
She went on to highlight the achievements of the Maldives, including its rise as a world-leading tourism destination, and expressed her belief that with continued hard work, the nation will achieve even greater prosperity.
The ambassador’s remarks reflect the deepening relationship between the Maldives and China. During a reception celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu also spoke about the importance of the Maldives-China partnership. He emphasized that China has been a “steadfast partner” in the development of the Maldives, pointing to key infrastructure projects like the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge and major housing developments as evidence of this strong collaboration.
President Muizzu commended China’s support for the Maldives, stressing that their partnership is built on shared values of sovereignty, non-interference, and sustainable development. He also highlighted areas where cooperation between the two countries has flourished, including trade, tourism, agriculture, fisheries, renewable energy, and climate change.
As both nations look to the future, President Muizzu expressed his confidence in the continued strengthening of ties, noting that greater collaboration between the Maldives and China will bring about mutual growth and development.
