President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended a message of heartfelt condolences to the President of Türkiye, His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, following a deadly attack on the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) near Ankara. The attack, which occurred on Monday, left at least five people dead and 22 others injured.
In his message, President Muizzu expressed sorrow upon hearing of the tragic incident and conveyed his sympathies to the families of the victims. He also offered prayers for the swift recovery of those injured in the attack. The President firmly condemned the violence on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, stressing the Maldives’ commitment to stand in solidarity with the people of Türkiye during this difficult time.
The attack, which took place in the town of Kahramankazan, some 40 kilometers north of Ankara, occurred while President Erdoğan was in Russia for talks with President Vladimir Putin. According to reports from Turkish media, the incident was marked by a loud explosion followed by gunfire. Footage broadcast by local outlets showed heavy smoke and a raging fire at the site. Security camera footage from the scene reportedly depicted individuals armed with assault rifles carrying out the attack.
President Erdoğan condemned the event as a “heinous terrorist attack” and vowed to bring those responsible to justice.
