President Muizzu Inaugurates Dharumavantha Hospital as Tertiary-Level Facility

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated Dharumavantha Hospital as a tertiary-level hospital, marking a significant step in the development of the nation’s healthcare system. The event, held at the hospital on Friday evening, included the unveiling of the logo for the Male’ City Group of Hospitals.

During the ceremony, the President announced several key advancements in the hospital’s services, reflecting his administration’s commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery. These include the establishment of a fertility centre, the launch of a state-of-the-art hybrid cardiac catheterisation lab (Cath lab), and the transformation of the hospital’s emergency room (ER) into a dedicated facility for children.

President Muizzu also toured the newly inaugurated facilities, where he reviewed operations and engaged with healthcare professionals. A video report showcasing the expanded services at Dharumavantha Hospital was presented during the event.

The inauguration aligns with the President’s earlier pledge to upgrade healthcare services. During his address at the Republic Day ceremony on November 10, he had announced plans to elevate both Dharumavantha Hospital and Hulhumalé Hospital to tertiary-level facilities. The move is part of a broader strategy to enhance medical services and infrastructure across the Maldives.

Hulhumalé Hospital’s inauguration as a tertiary-level facility is set to follow on Saturday, underscoring the government’s drive for significant advancements in the health sector. These efforts are expected to bring better accessibility and specialized care to Maldivians.

The latest developments highlight the administration’s resolve to transform the healthcare landscape, making advanced medical services more readily available and addressing critical areas such as fertility treatment, cardiac care, and pediatric emergencies.
