Authorities are conducting a search operation for a crew member who went missing from a local boat traveling from Addu City to Malé City late Monday night.
The Maldives Police Service confirmed that the missing individual is a Nepalese national named Raj Kumar, who was part of the crew aboard the vessel Sea Max. The incident came to light when the crew discovered Kumar was no longer on board while the boat was en route.
According to police, the boat was traveling between Addu City and Fuvahmulah when Kumar’s absence was noticed, approximately eight nautical miles off the coast of Fuvahmulah.
The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has launched an active search operation in the area to locate the missing crew member. Police officials have also initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
