President Muizzu Extends Independence Day Greetings to Libya

Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu conveyed heartfelt Independence Day greetings to Libya’s leadership and people on Tuesday, marking the country’s national day celebrated annually on December 24.

President Muizzu addressed his well-wishes to Mohamed Younis A Menfi, President of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya, and Abdulhamid M A Al Dabiba, Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity.

In his messages, President Muizzu extended greetings on behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives to their Libyan counterparts, expressing warm sentiments of friendship and solidarity. He further wished good health and well-being for the Libyan leaders and prayed for peace, prosperity, and continued progress for the Libyan nation.

The Maldives and Libya share a long-standing diplomatic relationship, having officially established ties on November 17, 1975. This enduring relationship is rooted in mutual respect and cooperation, reflecting the spirit of international camaraderie between the two nations.

Libya’s Independence Day commemorates the country’s liberation from colonial rule and its establishment as a sovereign state in 1951. The day is celebrated nationwide as a symbol of resilience and national pride.

President Muizzu’s message underscores the Maldives’ commitment to fostering strong international relationships and goodwill, reflecting its continued support for Libya’s journey toward peace and development.
