BML’s CEO and Managing Director, Mohammed Shareef, highlighted the significance of the initiative in fostering the growth of the financial sector in the Maldives. “This scholarship program is a crucial step in our efforts to expand the banking and finance sector by empowering youth with the education and skills they need. Providing opportunities for higher education is a responsibility we take seriously,” Shareef said.

In addition to covering tuition fees, the scholarship offers a comprehensive package that includes monthly stipends, visa fees, book allowances, establishment allowances, and travel expenses. This year, three recipients have been given the opportunity to pursue their studies abroad, joining six other students currently enrolled in overseas programs under the BML scholarship.

Now in its third year, the BML scholarship program has become a cornerstone of the bank’s commitment to youth development and the enhancement of the Maldives’ financial sector. By providing these opportunities, BML continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of banking and finance in the country.
