Three Indian Nationals to Be Deported Following Violence at Male’s Artificial Beach

Maldivian authorities have announced the deportation of three Indian nationals involved in a physical altercation at Male’s Artificial Beach on Friday evening. The incident, which occurred at approximately 8:30 PM, also saw a Maldivian citizen assaulted while attempting to record the altercation on his phone.

Controller of Immigration Mohamed Shamaan Waheed confirmed the development through a statement on social media platform X. “The three foreigners arrested in connection with yesterday’s fight have been handed over to Immigration,” he said. “They are all being deported.”

Shamaan Waheed strongly condemned the actions of the individuals, emphasizing that the authorities would not permit “any more opportunity to foreigners who commit such acts that endanger the public interest.”

Artificial Beach, a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists, has witnessed similar incidents in the past. Last month, another altercation involving foreign nationals, reportedly a group of Indians, occurred at the same location on a Friday evening.

The decision to deport the individuals highlights the government’s firm stance on maintaining public safety and addressing incidents involving foreign nationals swiftly. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring that such behavior does not disrupt the peace and security of the community.
