The new office complex for Malé City Council will be completed within 10 months, bringing all municipal operations under one roof, according to Mayor Adam Azim.
Speaking at a cleanup event in West Maafannu on Saturday, Azim emphasized the importance of the new office building, stating that the council’s operations are currently spread across nine different locations, with some employees even working remotely from home. The new complex, he said, would streamline services and enhance efficiency for both employees and residents.
“In 10 months, all 1,200 employees of the Malé City Council will be working in our own office complex, under one roof. In Sha Allah, the residents of Malé City will see a very different Malé City Council,” Azim stated.
The Mayor described the construction of the new council headquarters as a major milestone in improving public services for the over 200,000 residents of the capital. He assured that the council would become an institution where people feel welcomed and supported, while also strengthening engagement with the community.
Azim further highlighted the financial and operational benefits of the new complex, noting that it would eliminate costly rental expenses, speed up service delivery, and ensure uninterrupted operations for residents seeking municipal services.
The two-story office complex is being built on a 20,000-square-foot plot at Thaisay Koshi, with construction officially commencing on Monday. Once completed, it is expected to modernize the way city council services are provided, making them more accessible and efficient for the public.
The new facility aligns with Mayor Azim’s broader vision of revamping municipal services and fostering a more responsive and people-centric city administration.
