In a gesture of goodwill and solidarity, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance has donated 10 tonnes of dates to the Maldives. The donation was officially received by Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, at a ceremony held on Monday at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Malé.
Senior officials from the Saudi Arabian Embassy in the Maldives were present at the event, marking the significance of the donation during the holy month of Ramadan. The dates will be distributed to communities across the Maldives as part of efforts to support those in need during this blessed period.
During the ceremony, Minister Shaheem expressed deep gratitude to the Government of Saudi Arabia for the generous contribution. He emphasized the strong ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the realm of Islamic solidarity.
This donation highlights Saudi Arabia’s continued support to the Maldives, and is expected to aid many Maldivians during Ramadan, a time when dates are a staple food, especially for breaking fast.
The Maldives Government has assured that the dates will be distributed efficiently, bringing much-needed assistance to local communities throughout the country.
