President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has launched an official WhatsApp channel aimed at directly sharing key government updates and vital information with the public, furthering his administration’s efforts to enhance transparency and communication.

The move comes as part of a wider communication strategy that the President has embraced since assuming office, with a strong focus on bringing government closer to the people. In recent months, President Muizzu has rolled out several platforms and initiatives designed to keep citizens informed and engaged.

Among these is the presidential podcast With the People, a platform where the President personally responds to public questions and outlines government priorities. Additionally, a new programme titled Ahaa has been introduced, offering weekly insights into ministerial work. The show provides a space for citizens to raise concerns, which are addressed directly by Cabinet ministers. President Muizzu himself also appears on select episodes to speak on major policy areas.

In his latest podcast episode, President Muizzu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to open governance, stressing that timely and accessible information is a priority. He revealed plans to launch a youth-focused podcast in the near future to further expand outreach, especially among younger demographics.

The President’s communication efforts also extend to grassroots engagement, with ongoing island visits that allow him to meet residents, inspect development projects, and collect feedback directly from communities.

Further underscoring his commitment to media freedom and open dialogue, President Muizzu is scheduled to host a press conference on May 3, in conjunction with International Press Freedom Day. The event will provide journalists the opportunity to freely ask questions and engage the President on pressing national matters.

Through this multi-platform approach, the administration hopes to create a more informed and involved citizenry, while reinforcing transparency as a cornerstone of democratic governance.
