President Muizzu Reaffirms Commitment to Justice, Pledges Transparent Investigation into Rooftop Death

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated his firm commitment to justice and impartiality, assuring the Maldivian public that the administration will pursue the truth without fear or favor.

Speaking to PSM News ahead of his official visit to Malaysia, President Muizzu addressed the fatal incident involving a young woman who fell from a rooftop near H. Fentanoy on April 18. The case has sparked widespread concern and calls for transparency, particularly among the youth.

Emphasizing that no individual is above the law, President Muizzu stressed that his government would prioritise justice in handling the case. He dismissed any form of cruelty or favoritism and assured that the investigation would move forward independently.

“I am aware of the accusations suggesting attempts to obscure certain facts, and I have taken note of the concerns expressed by the youth. It is my firm commitment to identify those responsible for this crime and ensure that they are held accountable under the law, irrespective of their identity,” President Muizzu said.

Responding to public demands for a credible investigation, the President announced the formation of an independent commission with full authority to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident. He guaranteed that there would be no barriers to scrutinising any necessary details and insisted that no party would be exempt from questioning.

“I fully expect the truth to emerge promptly and am committed to concluding the investigation with transparency and responsibility,” he added.

President Muizzu also reflected on his broader approach to governance, highlighting his independence from external influences and reiterating his election promise to serve solely in the interest of the Maldivian people.

He emphasized that his administration remains dedicated to upholding peace, fairness, and stability, vowing that these principles would not be compromised under his leadership.

The fatal rooftop fall has fueled widespread demands for accountability, with many citizens closely watching how the case unfolds. The President’s strong statements come as a reassurance that the pursuit of justice will remain a top priority for his government.
