In a continued demonstration of proactive leadership and hands-on governance, Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Thoriq paid an official visit to the resort development site at the Bolidhuffaru Lagoon Plot in Kaafu Atoll. The project, currently being developed by Vita Heights Company Limited, is one of the many resort initiatives under progress in the country’s key tourism zone.
Joined by senior management officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Minister Thoriq’s site visit forms part of his ongoing commitment to regularly monitor and assess the status of tourism infrastructure developments across the Maldives. His consistent on-ground inspections are aimed at ensuring transparency, timely progress, and adherence to environmental and regulatory standards within the tourism sector.
During the visit, Minister Thoriq engaged with project managers and technical teams on-site, reviewing current construction phases, logistical readiness, and future development plans. He also emphasised the importance of maintaining the Maldives’ globally renowned tourism standards, and urged developers to prioritise sustainability and community engagement throughout the project’s lifecycle.
Speaking after the inspection, officials from the Ministry noted that Minister Thoriq’s active involvement and oversight have significantly improved coordination between the government and resort developers. His leadership has been instrumental in fast-tracking resort openings, streamlining regulatory processes, and boosting investor confidence in the Maldives’ tourism landscape.
The Bolidhuffaru resort development is expected to add significant capacity to Kaafu Atoll’s high-demand tourism belt, contributing to employment opportunities and strengthening the Maldives’ position as a leading luxury travel destination.
With more such visits planned in the coming weeks, the Ministry of Tourism reaffirmed its dedication to facilitating responsible and efficient resort development under the guidance of Minister Thoriq’s results-driven leadership.
