State Electric Company (STELCO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Education, has organised a special site visit and career guidance programme for students of Maldives Polytechnic.
The initiative was held as part of Maldives Engineers’ Day celebrations and aimed to inspire young people to consider careers in engineering by showcasing the critical role engineers play in nation-building and development.
During the programme, students had the opportunity to tour STELCO facilities, observe ongoing projects, and engage with professionals working in the field. Company officials highlighted the importance of engineering in powering the nation and underscored the diverse career opportunities available within the energy and infrastructure sectors.
STELCO noted that such initiatives are part of its broader commitment to fostering future talent and encouraging more students to pursue technical and engineering disciplines, which remain central to the Maldives’ development goals.
The event concluded with an interactive session where students received career guidance and advice from experienced engineers, designed to help them better understand pathways into the profession.
