President Muizzu accepted the credentials and officially welcomed High Commissioner Hassen, expressing confidence in further strengthening the long-standing partnership between the two neighbouring nations.

Following the presentation, the President and the High Commissioner held discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation. Talks focused on trade, economic growth, and joint responses to climate change, while both sides emphasised the importance of strengthening people-to-people connections. They reaffirmed their commitment to expand collaboration in ways that build on the already close ties between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 26 July 1965, and the meeting underscored the enduring friendship that has defined their partnership for nearly six decades.
