The Foreign Ministry of Maldives has announced an extension to visa-free privileges for Maldivian travelers visiting Thailand, now allowing for a stay of up to 60 days. Previously, under Thailand’s tourist visa policy, Maldivian tourists were permitted a maximum stay of 30 days.
In a statement released today, the Foreign Ministry highlighted that effective from July 15, 2024, Maldivian nationals traveling to Thailand for tourism, business engagements, or urgent work purposes are eligible for visa exemption up to 60 days. Additionally, travelers may request an extension of up to 30 days beyond the initial period, subject to the discretion of the Royal Thai Immigration.
The statement also emphasized the importance for Maldivian travelers to obtain travel insurance before embarking on their journeys and to respect the laws and regulations of the host country.
This policy revision marks a significant enhancement in bilateral travel facilitation between Maldives and Thailand, aimed at fostering closer ties and facilitating smoother travel experiences for Maldivian citizens.
