Minister Zameer Concludes Successful Official Visit to China

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Moosa Zameer, has concluded his official visit to China, advancing bilateral ties between the two nations. The visit, which included high-level meetings and diplomatic engagements, aimed at enhancing cooperation across various sectors.

Minister Zameer, in a series of tweets posted on X, highlighted the productive discussions held during his visit. He expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of his talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, focusing on crucial infrastructure projects, economic collaboration, and fiscal reforms. The signing of the Letters of Exchange on the Feasibility Study for the Redevelopment of Malé and Villimalé Roads Project was a notable achievement, underscoring the commitment to bolstering infrastructure in Maldives.

Reflecting on the historical ties between Maldives and China, Minister Zameer met with former Ambassador Wang Fukang, acknowledging the enduring impact of projects like the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge on bilateral relations.

During his visit, Minister Zameer also visited the Maldives Embassy in China accompanied by Minister of Finance Mohamed Shafeeg and Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Abdulla Muhthalib. He commended Ambassador-Designate Fazeel Najeeb and the embassy staff for their dedication in advancing Maldives-China relations.

In a press release issued by the Maldives Foreign Ministry, it was emphasized that discussions between Minister Zameer and Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), were crucial in advancing key infrastructure projects for Maldives’ development agenda.

Minister Zameer’s delegation included key officials from the Maldivian government.

The visit concludes amidst a backdrop of strategic engagements aimed at deepening economic and diplomatic cooperation between Maldives and China. Minister Zameer reiterated the Maldivian government’s commitment to furthering these partnerships, ensuring mutual benefits and sustainable development for both nations.
