The Maldives Minister of Higher Education, Employment, and Skills Development, Dr. Maryam Mariya, has held discussions with OSTIM Technical University in Turkey to explore scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students and strengthen educational ties between the two nations.
During her visit to Turkey, Dr. Mariya met with the Rector of OSTIM Technical University, Prof. Dr. Murad Yulek, where they signed an agreement to enhance cooperation in the field of higher education. OSTIM Technical University is known for its diverse courses in technical disciplines, and the agreement is expected to open new educational avenues for Maldivian students.
As part of her visit, Dr. Mariya toured the university’s facilities, including its laboratories, and reviewed various projects currently being undertaken by the institution. These firsthand observations provided insights into the advanced technical education offered at the university, further highlighting the potential benefits for Maldivian students.
In addition to her engagements with OSTIM Technical University, Dr. Mariya also met with Turkey’s Minister of Tourism and Culture. Their discussions focused on expanding scholarship opportunities available to Maldivian students in Turkey, aiming to foster greater academic collaboration between the two countries.
Minister Maryam Maria’s visit to Turkey, which is taking place from August 6th to 8th, is part of a broader effort to strengthen international educational partnerships. She is accompanied by Deputy Minister Amina Shashi and the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Aiminath Hikma. The delegation’s meetings with various Turkish universities are expected to pave the way for more Maldivian students to pursue higher education in Turkey.
