Foreign Minister Zameer Engages in Key Talks to Strengthen Economic Ties with Saudi Arabia

Maldives Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer recently engaged in high-level discussions with Saudi officials to further solidify economic relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia. The talks took place during Minister Zameer’s official visit to Saudi Arabia, which spans from August 18th to 22nd, at the invitation of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

During his visit, Minister Zameer held meetings with several key figures in the Saudi government, including Assistant Minister of Investment Ibrahim bin Yousef Al-Mubarak, Deputy Minister of Finance for International Relations Khalid Bawazier, and Central Bank Governor Ayman Al Sayari.

In his meeting with Assistant Minister Al-Mubarak, discussions centered around potential investment opportunities in the Maldives. Minister Zameer expressed his gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s ongoing support in the social and economic development of the Maldives and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation.

Minister Zameer also met with Deputy Minister of Finance Khalid Bawazier to explore ways to further enhance trade and tourism between the two nations. The conversation highlighted the need for expanded investment channels and deeper economic collaboration.

In his discussions with Central Bank Governor Ayman Al Sayari, Minister Zameer provided an overview of the Maldivian economy, particularly focusing on the tourism sector. The two officials also explored opportunities for expanding trade relations and investment ventures, not only within the Maldives but also in neighboring Sri Lanka.

Beyond his official meetings, Minister Zameer took the opportunity to connect with Maldivian students and expatriates residing in Riyadh. During the gathering, he reassured them of the government’s commitment to providing more educational and career opportunities abroad, underscoring the importance of continued support for Maldivians pursuing their ambitions internationally.
