Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, representing the Maldives at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2024 in Samoa, met with King Charles III during an event held by the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) and a dinner hosted by King Charles. During the interaction, Vice President Hussain extended an invitation to King Charles, on behalf of President Mohamed Muizzu, to visit the Maldives.
The invitation, extended in line with diplomatic protocols, reflects the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening ties within the Commonwealth. Vice President Hussain’s participation in CHOGM includes various engagements intended to foster partnerships and cooperative development among member states.
CHOGM 2024, hosted in Samoa, has convened leaders from across the Commonwealth to discuss shared challenges and areas of collaboration, further underscoring the Maldives’ role in regional and international diplomatic efforts.
