President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has paid tribute to young and first-time parents on the occasion of the Global Day of Parents, recognising their resilience and unwavering commitment to shaping the next generation.
In a message shared on social media under the hashtag #RaisingParents, the President lauded the dedication of parents navigating the joys and challenges of raising children, particularly those experiencing parenthood for the first time. He described parenting as a “noble duty” that plays a critical role in nurturing future generations.
“On this Global Day of Parents, let us celebrate young and first-time parents who, through countless trials and tribulations, embrace the noble duty of nurturing and shaping future generations,” President Muizzu wrote.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting families, emphasizing that the government would continue working to ensure parents have access to the resources, opportunities, and environments necessary to raise well-rounded, healthy children. The President also underscored the importance of upholding Islamic values in parenting, noting that the foundation of a strong society lies in children being raised with compassion, discipline, and faith.
The Global Day of Parents, observed annually on June 1, was established by the United Nations to honour the vital role parents play in the lives of children and communities. It serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to support families as they guide the next generation through an increasingly complex world.
