The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced plans to hold a public forum, ‘Hiyaalun Hulhumalé’, inviting residents to contribute their ideas to shape the city’s long-term growth under the Hulhumalé Master Plan.
The initiative, according to HDC, is designed to strengthen community participation in urban planning and ensure that development strategies reflect the needs and aspirations of those who live in Hulhumalé. The forum will also provide a platform to share progress updates on current projects and raise awareness about upcoming initiatives.
Discussions will focus on three major pillars of the master plan: the social plan, which determines how communities will be structured; the transport plan, aimed at improving mobility within the city; and the landscape plan, which prioritises greening projects and environmental sustainability.
The forums are scheduled to begin on 13 October, with online registration already open for participants. Interested individuals have until 7 October to secure their spot.
HDC said it remains committed to embedding public perspectives into each stage of Hulhumalé’s growth, with the goal of building a city that is inclusive, sustainable, and comfortable for its residents.
Registration for the forum can be completed through HDC’s online platform.
