MACL Launches Winter Prep 2024 to Enhance Airport Operations for Upcoming Season

In preparation for the upcoming tourist season, the Facilities Management and Utilities Division (FMUD) of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) held a special event today titled “Winter Prep Kickoff 2024.” The event was organized to outline the division’s plans for ensuring a smooth and efficient operation at Velana International Airport (VIA) during the peak tourist influx.

The event was attended by key figures from MACL, including CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Deputy Managing Directors Mohamed Lam’aan, and Director Mujuthaba Latheef. The primary focus of the gathering was to align the division’s activities with the broader goals of the company, ensuring that the airport remains a comfortable and efficient environment for both passengers and airlines during the busy season.

As part of the winter preparation efforts, MACL’s Facilities Management has initiated several projects aimed at enhancing the airport’s capacity and efficiency. Among these are plans to expand the terminal area to alleviate congestion and maintain optimal temperature levels throughout the facility, which are crucial for passenger comfort.

Shareef expressed confidence that with proper planning and resource allocation, MACL would continue to improve the services offered at VIA.

The event also included presentations from various FMUD departments, highlighting their ongoing projects and strategies. Discussions centered on further strengthening inter-departmental collaboration to ensure that all aspects of the airport’s operations run smoothly during the peak season. MACL has planned additional meetings and discussions to refine these strategies and address any emerging challenges as the season progresses.
