Maldives Police Servie have initiated a criminal investigation into the mysterious disappearance of Thasleem Mohamed, who went missing after a picnic on a sandbank in Kaafu Atoll.
Thasleem, 43, was reported missing by his friends on Saturday, August 31st, following a picnic the group attended on Friday, August 30th. Despite extensive efforts by the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), which included snorkeling 5,000 acres around the sandbank and conducting dives across 3,000 acres, no trace of Thasleem has been found.
The sandbank where Thasleem and his friends were last seen is located about a mile from the city. The police have confirmed that Thasleem was last spotted between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on August 30th. Despite the ongoing investigation, police have not yet formally questioned anyone in connection with the case.
The circumstances surrounding Thasleem’s disappearance remain unclear, and the authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the search and investigation continue.
