President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his dedication to serving the Maldivian people with sincerity and transparency, emphasizing that his five-year term will prioritize public needs over political interests. He made these statements during an official Republic Day event at Dharubaaruge, highlighting his vision for a government that genuinely reflects the aspirations of its citizens.
Addressing the crowd, President Muizzu acknowledged a tendency for elected leaders to focus on defending their administrations rather than on serving the people. He stressed that his approach would be different, promising that his administration would prioritize the welfare and needs of Maldivians. In line with this commitment, the President announced plans to create a 20-year National Development Master Plan. This comprehensive plan, he explained, would be shaped by citizen input, enabling Maldivians to play an active role in shaping the nation’s future, free from purely political motivations.
To ensure that this development plan has a lasting foundation, President Muizzu outlined his intention to pass a law dedicated to supporting its objectives. This legislation, which is already in the works, will be based on broad consultation with citizens, experts, and key stakeholders, establishing a framework for inclusive growth that aligns with the aspirations of the people.
Part of the President’s vision for balanced regional development includes the establishment of two Integrated Development Zones at the northernmost and southernmost ends of the Maldives. Additionally, he revealed plans for the creation of seven urban centers across the country’s regions to improve accessibility and services for citizens nationwide.
Through these initiatives, President Muizzu aims to foster a future that prioritizes unity, inclusiveness, and shared progress, signaling a new era in Maldivian governance focused on meaningful public service.
