Fenaka Corporation has successfully commissioned a new 1.8 MW generator at the Central Power Station (CPS) in Addu to address the ongoing power outages affecting the region. The installation of the generator aims to improve the reliability of the power supply to the connected islands, which have faced intermittent disruptions in recent months.
The outages were primarily caused by delays in receiving spare parts for necessary repairs. To mitigate the situation, Fenaka brought in the new generator set last Monday, and it has now been fully installed and is operational.
As part of the installation process, a brief power interruption will occur tomorrow when a substation is temporarily disconnected for one hour, as communicated to residents via a Viber message from the Maradhoo-Feydhoo branch.
The new genset comes as a replacement for a damaged generator that was beyond repair. In addition to the faulty unit, three other gensets had been affected, with only one successfully repaired so far. Two pre-owned generators remain out of service, further exacerbating the power challenges in the area.
The installation of this new generator is expected to enhance the stability of the power supply and alleviate the inconvenience caused by the frequent outages, providing much-needed relief to the residents of Addu.
