The Maldives has witnessed a significant boost in tourism in the first two months of 2025, with a total of 428,954 visitors arriving in the country, according to the latest data released by the Maldives Immigration Department. February alone saw 214,091 tourists, contributing to a robust start to the year.
The United Kingdom led the list of countries sending tourists to the Maldives in February, with 23,210 British nationals visiting. China followed closely behind with 21,928 visitors, while Russia and Italy rounded out the top four, contributing 20,649 and 19,120 tourists, respectively.
One of the most notable milestones in February was the highest number of tourists recorded on a single day this year. On one particular day, 9,518 tourists arrived in the Maldives, marking the highest daily arrival so far in 2025. The Maldives continues to be a highly sought-after destination, with an average of 7,646 tourists visiting each day in February.
Looking at the overall statistics for the year, China has emerged as the top source of tourists, with more than 60,000 visitors arriving from the country. Russia follows as the second-largest contributor, with the UK holding the third spot.
With over 400,000 visitors already arriving in the first two months, the Maldives is on track to meet its ambitious target of welcoming 2.3 million tourists by the end of 2025. The country’s tourism authorities continue to explore various promotional strategies to attract even more international visitors and cement the Maldives’ reputation as a premier travel destination.
As the year progresses, the government remains optimistic about its ability to sustain this momentum and achieve its tourism goals, positioning the Maldives for a successful year ahead.
