Fenaka to Deploy New Generator in Addu City Amid Ongoing Power Outages

Fenaka Corporation has announced plans to transport an additional 1.8MW generator to Addu City next week in a bid to resolve the persistent power outages that have been affecting the city and its neighboring islands.

The outages have been traced back to issues with the generators at the Central Power Station, which provides electricity to these regions. According to Fenaka, the root cause of the power crisis is a lack of consistent maintenance for the generators at the station. While the company had already moved a 1.8MW generator to Addu last month to address the power issues, further generator failures have continued to disrupt the power supply.

Fenaka’s Managing Director, Mohamed Najah, explained that the power shortages were not due to a lack of spare parts, as all necessary components were already available in Addu. Instead, the problem stems from the generators themselves, which are currently undergoing repairs. Fenaka is working swiftly to bring additional generators to the city, including the new 1.8MW unit expected to arrive within the coming week.

The corporation is also exploring long-term solutions for Addu City’s ongoing electricity challenges. A proposal is being prepared for submission to the relevant authorities, aiming to resolve the issue within the year.

Najah assured the public that once the new generators are up and running, power stability in the region will improve significantly. This will allow Fenaka to focus on overhauling existing generators. He noted that spare parts for these damaged units are already on hand, and the overhaul process is set to begin soon.

With Ramadan approaching, Najah emphasized the critical need for an uninterrupted power supply. Fenaka is taking all necessary steps to ensure the availability of electricity during this important period.

In addition to addressing immediate concerns, Fenaka has begun the construction of a 32MW power house in Addu City, which is expected to provide a long-term solution to the region’s power shortages. The government is prioritizing the completion of the project, which has faced some delays.

As Fenaka continues to tackle the electricity crisis, both short-term measures and long-term investments are in place to ensure that Addu City and its neighboring islands receive reliable power for years to come.
