Dr. Iruthisham Adam Assumes Role as Non-Resident Ambassador to France

Dr. Iruthisham Adam, the Maldives’ High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, has officially assumed duties as the Non-Resident Ambassador to France after presenting her Letter of Credence to French President Emmanuel Macron.

The credential ceremony took place on March 7, 2025, at the Palais de l’Élysée in Paris. During the meeting, Ambassador Dr. Iruthisham conveyed greetings and best wishes from Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with France.

She highlighted the long-standing diplomatic relationship between the two nations and emphasized expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

As part of her visit, Ambassador Dr. Iruthisham held discussions with key French officials, including Jean Claude Brunet, Ambassador for Regional Cooperation in the Indian Ocean, and Myriam Saint Pierre, Deputy Director of the Asia and Oceania Department at the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. These meetings focused on enhancing collaboration in regional affairs and exploring opportunities for deeper engagement between the Maldives and France.

Dr. Iruthisham was accompanied by Aminath Samra, Third Secretary at the High Commission of the Maldives to the United Kingdom.

The appointment of a Non-Resident Ambassador to France reflects the Maldives’ ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen international partnerships and bolster its presence in Europe.
