Applications Open for Vacant Maldives Media Council Membership

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts has announced that applications are now open for a vacant membership position at the Maldives Media Council (MMC), following the resignation of Hussain Hassan.

Hassan stepped down from his position after winning the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s internal election to become the GA. Vilingili constituency party president.

The vacancy is designated for a media representative, and individuals interested in applying must submit their applications by 2:00 PM on March 18, 2025.

Applicants are required to submit the necessary documents in PDF format via email to media@youth.gov.mv.

The Maldives Media Council, which plays a key role in regulating and developing the country’s media landscape, ensures that journalists and media professionals uphold ethical and professional standards. The newly elected member will contribute to shaping policies and supporting press freedom in the Maldives.

With the media sector playing a vital role in national discourse, the Ministry encourages eligible candidates to step forward and take part in strengthening the country’s media governance.
