President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has paid tribute to Island Aviation Services Limited, the parent company of the national airline Maldivian, as the company marks its 25th anniversary.
In a message shared on social media platform X, President Muizzu congratulated the airline for its unwavering service over the past two and a half decades, praising the contributions of its staff in connecting the islands and supporting national development.
“For 25 years, Island Aviation has played a crucial role in strengthening transportation, driving economic growth, and advancing the development of the Maldives,” the President wrote. “On this silver jubilee, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to the entire team.”
The President’s remarks highlighted the airline’s role not only in connecting remote atolls to the capital but also in bolstering the tourism and trade sectors—key pillars of the Maldivian economy.
Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef also joined in celebrating the milestone, offering his congratulations to the management and staff of Island Aviation for their dedication over the years.
Island Aviation was established in 1999 and launched Maldivian in 2000. Since then, it has grown into a vital component of the country’s transport infrastructure, offering domestic and international flights and operating one of the largest seaplane fleets in the country.
