President Muizzu Extends Condolences Over Passing of Former Malaysian PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed his condolences to the people and government of Malaysia following the death of former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

In a message sent to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, President Muizzu conveyed deep sorrow over the passing of the respected statesman, describing him as a leader who devoted his life to the betterment of his nation through public service, moderation, and good governance.

President Muizzu highlighted the late Prime Minister’s efforts in strengthening Malaysia’s economy and fostering national unity, noting that his legacy would be remembered for steady leadership and a commitment to inclusive progress.

He also extended heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the people of the Maldives, expressing solidarity with Malaysia during this period of mourning. “Our thoughts are with the family of the late Prime Minister and with all Malaysians grieving this great loss,” President Muizzu said.

Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi served as Malaysia’s fifth Prime Minister from 2003 to 2009. His administration is remembered for championing progressive Islamic values, promoting interfaith understanding, and pursuing economic reforms aimed at sustainable development.
