Bollywood’s Farah Khan Joins Forces with Visit Maldives in New Cultural Tourism Campaign

The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), also known as Visit Maldives, has launched a fresh promotional initiative featuring renowned Indian filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan, in a move to further solidify the Maldives’ presence in the Indian tourism market.

This collaboration marks another chapter in the Maldives’ targeted strategy to attract Indian travellers by partnering with high-profile personalities who resonate with wide audiences. India continues to be one of the Maldives’ top tourist source markets, and engaging popular cultural figures like Farah Khan is part of a broader effort to diversify and humanize the destination’s image beyond its iconic luxury resorts.

Farah Khan, a household name in the Indian entertainment industry for over two decades, boasts more than 13 million followers across her social media platforms. Her popularity, particularly among family-oriented and leisure-seeking audiences in South Asia, makes her a natural ambassador for this campaign.

As part of the collaboration, Farah visited the Maldives from June 5th to 8th, 2025, aligning with Eid Al-Adha celebrations. During her stay, she was hosted by Sun Siyam Olhuveli and Arena Hotels Maafushi, offering her a firsthand glimpse of both high-end and community-based tourism experiences.

The visit was documented by a five-member production crew and will culminate in a vibrant YouTube vlog along with supplementary digital content. The focus of the content is to highlight the Maldives’ cultural richness and festive spirit, especially during Eid, and to showcase authentic island life beyond the typical resort backdrop.

The campaign also aims to foster a deeper emotional connection between potential travellers and the destination by emphasizing human stories, local traditions, and real cultural experiences.

Visit Maldives hopes this initiative will not only draw more Indian holidaymakers but also encourage travellers to explore the Maldives’ lesser-known, yet equally captivating, facets — its people, its islands, and its heritage.
