During the discussions, the First Lady congratulated Niumath on her appointment, describing her election as a moment of national pride and a milestone that reflects the Maldives’ growing presence on the international stage. She noted the importance of having Maldivian representation at such a high level within one of the world’s largest youth organisations.
In response, Niumath expressed gratitude to the First Lady for her longstanding involvement in Girl Guide activities and for her continuous encouragement in her role as Chief Guide. She also acknowledged the challenges faced by the Girl Guides and highlighted the value of strong leadership and institutional support.
The meeting further addressed the need to strengthen youth development initiatives through expanded training programmes and underscored the importance of establishing a dedicated campsite to better facilitate Girl Guide activities.
The Maldives Girl Guides Association has played a vital role in nurturing leadership, skills, and civic responsibility among young people, and officials at the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to advancing these efforts under the guidance of national and regional leaders.
