Training Programme Launched to Strengthen Digital Support for Women Entrepreneurs

A new Training of Trainers (ToT) programme aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs through digital transformation began today, jointly organised by the Ministry and the Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (APCICT).

The capacity-building initiative brings together participants from the Maldives Small and Family Business Development Authority (MSFD), Bank of Maldives (BML), SME Digital, and the Business Centre Corporation (BCC). The programme is designed to enhance the skills of professionals who directly support women-led businesses, enabling them to better guide entrepreneurs in using digital tools, online platforms, and technology-driven strategies for business growth.

According to organisers, the training will focus on equipping participants with knowledge in areas such as digital literacy, e-commerce, online financial management, and the use of emerging technologies that can improve business resilience in an increasingly digital economy.

Officials from APCICT, BCC, SME Digital, and BML are collaborating to deliver the programme, highlighting a shared commitment to expanding economic opportunities for women and strengthening their participation in the digital marketplace.

The initiative is part of broader national efforts to build capacity within key support institutions, ensuring that women entrepreneurs have access to the guidance and resources needed to sustain and expand their businesses in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
