The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has announced that a new draw will be held to assign plot numbers for land being issued from Giraavaru Falhu, following the approval of a revised land use plan.
According to the Ministry, the updated plan was gazetted on 26 January and provides for the allocation of 4,072 land plots under the Binveriyaa Scheme. Under the previous land use plan, 610 plots remained unallocated, prompting the need for revisions and a fresh draw to determine plot locations.
The draw is scheduled to take place on 31 January at 9:30 a.m. at the Social Centre Hall in Malé City and will be conducted by designated Ministry officials. The event will be broadcast live on PSM, allowing recipients and the public to follow the process.
The Ministry said that one person per plot will be allowed to be present in the draw area. In cases where a land recipient is unable to attend in person, a representative may participate on their behalf, provided they present written authorisation along with copies of identity cards.
Plot details will be made available in real time through the Hiyaavehi Portal during the draw, the Ministry said, adding that recipients will also receive SMS notifications confirming their assigned plot numbers.
Officials noted that arrangements for the signing of land transfer agreements and the formal transfer of land registration will be announced at a later date.
The Ministry said the new draw is part of ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and clarity in the land allocation process under the Binveriyaa housing scheme.
