Police to Begin Towing Illegally Parked Vehicles in Malé from February 23

The Maldives Police Service has announced that it will commence towing illegally parked vehicles across Malé City starting Monday, 23 February, as part of an enforcement drive to address traffic violations and road congestion.

In a public notice, police said the operation will target vehicles parked in breach of existing regulations, as well as unregistered vehicles and those registered outside Zone A but found within restricted areas.

Authorities have instructed vehicle owners to remove such vehicles from public roads before 11:30 p.m. on 22 February. Any vehicles found in violation after the deadline will be towed to locations designated by the Maldives Police Service.

Police further clarified that they will not assume responsibility for any damage that may occur during the towing process or while vehicles are held at the designated impound sites. The responsibility for retrieving and transporting the towed vehicles will lie with the respective owners.

Officials say the measure is aimed at improving traffic flow and ensuring compliance with parking regulations in the capital.
