The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has completed renovation and beautification works at Channel Park in Hulhumalé, reopening the public space in time for Ramadan gatherings.
According to HDC, the initiative was undertaken to enhance one of the most popular community areas in the Greater Malé Region, particularly during the evenings of the holy month when families and groups gather outdoors for iftar and social activities.
As part of the improvements, the park area was thoroughly cleaned and landscaped, with decorative lighting installed to create a more welcoming nighttime atmosphere. Additional waste bins were also placed throughout the site to support better cleanliness and convenience for visitors.
Channel Park, which connects Hulhumalé Phase I and Phase II, has experienced a steady rise in foot traffic in recent years. The area is widely used for picnics, leisure activities and swimming, making it a central recreational space for residents.
HDC said the beautification works aim to make the park more comfortable and family-friendly during Ramadan, while also encouraging responsible use of the space.
The corporation urged visitors to help maintain the area by disposing of waste properly, avoiding pollution of surrounding waters and ensuring that personal belongings are not left behind after gatherings.
