President Muizzu Appoints New Cabinet Following Ministerial Resignations

President Mohamed Muizzu has unveiled a reconstituted Cabinet, appointing a new team of ministers during a ceremony held this evening at the President’s Office.

The reshuffle comes just hours after 10 ministers stepped down earlier in the day, in what officials described as a move aimed at enabling governance reforms.

New Cabinet Line-Up Announced

The newly appointed ministers and their portfolios are as follows:

  • Moosa Zameer – Minister of Finance and Public Enterprise
  • Ali Ihusaan – Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology
  • Iruthisham Adam – Minister of Foreign Affairs
  • Dr Ismail Shafeeu – Minister of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development
  • Geela Ali – Minister of Health, Family and Welfare
  • Mohamed Saeed – Minister of Economic, Transport and Trade
  • Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed – Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments
  • Mohamed Ameen – Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation
  • Abdulla Rafiu – Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness
  • Heena Waleed – Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage
  • Dr Abdulla Muththalib – Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development
  • Ali Shareef – Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy

Oath-Taking Ceremony

The swearing-in ceremony was overseen by Chief Justice Abdul Ghanee Mohamed, who administered the oath of office to the newly appointed ministers. Following the ceremony, each minister formally signed their oath declarations, marking the official start of their duties.

Cabinet Composition

The restructured Cabinet will consist of 15 members, including the 12 ministers appointed during the ceremony, alongside the Attorney General and two additional ministers.

Officials say the changes are part of broader efforts to strengthen governance and improve administrative efficiency, following the earlier resignations.
