Salary Adjustment Issues to Be Reflected in Next Pay, Says Muizzu

President Mohamed Muizzu has stated that concerns arising from the government’s pay harmonisation process for civil service and judicial sector employees have now been addressed.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the President acknowledged that the salary reform initiative had led to discrepancies, with some employees not receiving expected increases, while others experienced reductions in their pay following the adjustments.

He said the government has since taken steps to resolve these issues and assured that the revised salary structure will be reflected in the upcoming salary payments. According to the President, the concerns primarily affected employees in human resource departments, the judiciary, and certain local council positions.

Muizzu added that all identified issues would be corrected within this month’s payroll cycle, with affected employees expected to see salary increases. He also noted that further solutions would be provided on a case-by-case basis for individuals who continue to face specific concerns.

In addition, the President said the Pay Commission is working on addressing salary structure challenges affecting long-serving employees.

The government’s pay harmonisation policy was introduced to standardise salaries across the public sector, though the rollout had prompted concerns from some employees over disparities in adjustments.
