President Sends Message of Sympathy Following Tragic Plane Crash in France

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed his condolences to French President Emmanuel Macron following Sunday’s fatal plane crash in Tomblaine, France, which claimed the lives of everyone on board.

In a message addressed to President Macron, President Muizzu said he was deeply saddened to learn of the tragedy and expressed sympathy to those affected by the accident.

On behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives, as well as in his own capacity, the President extended heartfelt condolences to the French President, the Government of France, the French people and the families of the victims who lost their lives in the crash.

President Muizzu also expressed hope that the ongoing investigation would successfully determine the cause of the accident, while wishing the French authorities success in their efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

The plane crash occurred in Tomblaine on Sunday and resulted in the deaths of all passengers and crew on board. French authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine what led to the crash.

The Maldives and France share longstanding diplomatic relations and cooperate in a number of areas, including tourism, environmental protection and international affairs. Messages of condolence are routinely exchanged between the two countries following major national tragedies as a gesture of solidarity and mutual respect.

President Muizzu’s message reflects the Maldives’ support for France during a time of national mourning, while expressing sympathy for the victims’ families and all those affected by the disaster.
