During the conference, Abdul Raheem is scheduled to address participants under the theme, “Unity for Peace and Prosperity: Strengthening International Law and Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts.”

His address is expected to focus on the role of international cooperation and adherence to international law in promoting peace, stability and prosperity.

The Speaker is accompanied by a delegation of three members of Parliament: Hulhudhoo MP Mohamed Shahid, Machangolhi South MP Musthafa Hussain and Faresmaathodaa MP Ashraf Rasheed.

People’s Majlis Secretariat Chief of Bureau Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik and Foreign Relations Department Assistant Director General Zuyyina Badhury are also travelling as part of the delegation.

The Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference provides a platform for parliamentary leaders to exchange views on international challenges and explore how legislative institutions can contribute to peace, dialogue and sustainable development.

The gathering in Phnom Penh comes at a time when conflicts and geopolitical tensions in several parts of the world have renewed international attention on diplomacy, adherence to international law and peaceful mechanisms for settling disputes.

Participation in international parliamentary forums also forms part of the People’s Majlis’ engagement with legislatures and parliamentary institutions abroad, providing Maldivian lawmakers with opportunities to contribute to discussions on regional and global issues.
