“This year marks a significant milestone for the Hajj Corporation, as it successfully accommodated the largest number of pilgrims in its history,” Dr. Shaheem stated.

He acknowledged that despite meticulous planning, challenges are inevitable when managing the Maldivian pilgrims among millions of individuals in dynamic conditions beyond direct control.

“Safety, health, and well-being of the pilgrims remained our utmost priority, especially in the challenging climate,” Dr. Shaheem emphasized.

The Minister praised the operation for offering comprehensive assistance to pilgrims with health concerns, including those requiring dialysis, cancer treatment, and cardiac care. He commended the medical teams for their diligent efforts in ensuring prompt and effective care for all admitted individuals.

Regarding logistical aspects, Dr. Shaheem addressed concerns over congestion in the Mina tents and vowed to investigate and implement measures to alleviate such issues in future pilgrimages. This year, the introduction of tracking devices proved beneficial, aiding in locating approximately 100 lost Maldivian pilgrims, a development Dr. Shaheem applauded.

Special recognition was extended to a local chef Waheed, for his role in providing quality meals imbued with traditional Maldivian flavors, enhancing the culinary experience for pilgrims.

Dr. Shaheem expressed gratitude to all parties involved in the successful execution of the Hajj operation, including the Hajj Corporation’s management, dedicated employees, pilgrim assistants, the Hajj Mission, Maldivian students in Medina and scholars for their assistance. He also thanked the media for their comprehensive coverage.

This year, a total of 1,150 individuals participated in Hajj under the auspices of the Hajj Corporation, including those sponsored by the state.
