President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged a significant financial commitment to bolster the local art community, announcing an allocation of MVR 25 million from the Youth Ministry’s budget starting in 2025. The announcement came during his address at the “Unveiling Visions 2024” event held at the National Art Gallery last night.
In his speech, President Dr. Muizzu underscored the government’s commitment to nurturing artistic talent in accordance with its manifesto. He highlighted plans to enhance opportunities for artists to showcase and sell their creations, emphasizing the importance of skill development and financial support.
Furthermore, the President revealed plans for the establishment of a dedicated venue in Hulhumale aimed at showcasing and fostering the skills of local artists. He also outlined initiatives to facilitate exhibitions across different regions of the Maldives and to enable artists to participate in international platforms.

The “Unveiling Visions 2024” exhibition at the National Art Gallery, which featured over 200 submissions from Maldivian artists, saw 105 works selected by the Maldivian Artist Community (MAC) for display. The exhibition, now in its seventh year, attracted a notable participation from young artists across the Maldives.
