President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended warm congratulations to Malaysia’s King, Sultan Ibrahim, and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in celebration of Malaysia’s Independence Day. The greetings were conveyed in separate letters to the King and Prime Minister, emphasizing the deep-rooted and mutually respectful partnership between the Maldives and Malaysia.
In his messages, President Muizzu highlighted the longstanding ties between the two nations, which are built on shared values, common principles, and strong people-to-people connections. The Maldives and Malaysia established diplomatic relations in 1968, and since then, Malaysia has been a key developmental partner for the Maldives, especially in the field of human resources. Over the years, the number of Maldivian students pursuing higher education in Malaysia has grown significantly, as has the interest of Maldivian entrepreneurs in exploring business opportunities in the vibrant Malaysian economy.
The relationship between the Maldives and Malaysia has been characterized by excellent cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels, strengthened by shared cultural and religious values. As Malaysia continues to grow as a strong and dynamic economy, the bonds between the two nations are expected to deepen further, fostering greater collaboration in various sectors.
