Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer Embarks on Official Visit to UAE

Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has departed for an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the invitation of the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The visit, scheduled from September 2 to 4, 2024, will involve high-level discussions aimed at strengthening the bilateral relationship between the Maldives and the UAE. Minister Zameer is set to meet with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with other senior officials of the UAE government.

The visit aims to further enhance the bilateral relations between the two nations, which have enjoyed strong diplomatic relations since March 15, 1978. Over the years, the Maldives and the UAE have signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) covering areas such as food security and visa exemptions for diplomatic passport holders.

Accompanying Minister Zameer on this trip are Ambassador-at-Large Ahmed Naseer, Secretary Bilateral Dr. Hala Hameed, and Joint Secretary Mariyam Reesha.

The Maldives maintains an embassy in Abu Dhabi, while the UAE has an embassy in Malé.
