President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, currently in New York for the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, met with members of the Maldivian community residing in and around New York State. The meeting was held at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of the Maldives to the United Nations.
During the gathering, President Muizzu engaged directly with Maldivians living in the United States, listening to their concerns and inquiring about their needs. He emphasized the importance of understanding the challenges they face while living abroad and expressed his commitment to supporting them.
“The government will always seek to move forward by engaging in open dialogue and listening attentively to the people,” said President Muizzu during the meeting. He added that his administration remains focused on developing policies that reflect the concerns of Maldivians, whether at home or abroad.
The President’s interaction with the diaspora highlights his administration’s approach to cultivating meaningful connections with Maldivians living overseas. He reiterated his dedication to ensuring that the voices of all Maldivians are heard and that the government works to provide support where needed.
Prior to the meeting, President Muizzu signed the guest book of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of the Maldives to the United Nations, marking his visit to the Mission.
This engagement with the Maldivian community forms a significant part of President Muizzu’s agenda during his trip to New York, where he continues to represent the Maldives at key events during the United Nations General Assembly.
